Theresa was the sort of person
who had never expected much of anything, or anyone, during her life
time. She never impressed her parents, never lived up to
expectations, so alligning herself with Drew seem naturally and very
normal. As time went on, she became less and less real to her
parents until she understood that her existence was more like being a
character in a very long dream they'd experienced together. Drew
was the only person who understood her plight and gave her the agency
to continue. This gave her great relief. Others had always
expected great things, great lovers,
great events, to fill a life time with beautiful memories and
experiences both mundane and extraordinary but this just left Theresa
equally humiliated and terrified. Soon, her parents were forgotten.
Theresa knew
better that the best she could expect was to avoid the worst possible
scenarios. Avoid her parent's criticism, help keep Drew from
fucking up, again, and generally stay distant from most general
matters. She had been a mere appearance to most before she met
Drew, who had brought the fire out of her. For there, Theresa was. Always there, always available, always reliable above all others.
