• Two more from the winter issue of The Quarterly Conversation: reviews of David Weinberger’s Everything Is Miscellaneous and three of Cesar Aira’s novels.
• Two from the May issue of Postmodern Culture: Jeffrey T. Nealon’s The Swerve Around P: Literary Theory after Interpretation and Kyle A. Wiggins’ Futures of Negation: Jameson’s Archaeologies of the Future and Utopian Science Fiction. No links, I am not linking to closed access journals anymore.
• Via Grand Text Auto, a New Yorker article about the disgusting “Myspace Hoax” suicide.  As I note in the comment section, as a teenager I was the victim of fake love notes for months one year.  This was before I was online; I cannot even begin to imagine what being a teenager who is fucked with like this in the Internet age.
• I am also reading Julian Dibbell’s A Rape In Cyberspace, which GTA also linked to.

• Steve F. Anderson looks at time based digital media.

• Reviews: Guardian Unlimited looks at Douglas Coupland’s new novel The Gum Thief and the New York Times offers two separate reviews of Naomi Klein’s new book The Shock Doctrine: The Rise Of Disaster Capitalism.

• Brien Michael looks at two next books about transgendered experiences.

• The New Yorker looks at the history of spam email.

• The New York Times wants to revisit the canon wars. I am going to have more to say about this one.

• Two from recent issues of The New Yorker: Louis Menand asks are the wrong people voting? Also, Jon Lee Anderson reports on the war against opium in Afghanistan.

• Two from the newest issue of Bookforum: Bilge Ebiri discusses comic book adaptations and Michael Wood reviews Falling Man, the newest novel from Don DeLillo.

Hey, how about some weekend reading!

• Joyce Carol Oates reviews the recent reissue of The Handmaid’s Tale over at The New York Review Of Books. There is also some lovely discussions of Margaret Atwood’s other books including Surfacing.

• Elizabeth L. Rambo writes about Cordelia for Slayage twenty three.

• Edwidge Danticat has a new story in a recent issue of The New Yorker.

• Via The Little Professor, Ohio State has digitized some of their out of print books. I am interested in the texts about Shakespeare and Mildred Newcomb’s The Imagined World Of Charles Dickens because I am reading Oliver Twist this weekend for a class.

• A few weeks ago The New Yorker had an interesting article about Google’s book scanning project and the snags it is hitting because of lawsuits. Interestingly enough, right after I first typed this bullet point a BBC news article came up in my reader about Microsoft criticizing Google’s program.

• The spring issue of The Quarterly Conversation is now online. Among the contributors this time are some of my favorite bloggers: Scott Esposito from Conversational Reading, Derik Badman from MadInkBeard, and Dan Green from The Reading Experience.

• A Jeanette Winterson manuscript was found on a train in England. By a fan hilariously enough.
