Downton Abbey is totally worth it, and it's on Netflix *shameless plug for a show I like.* Thanks for the mention!

Thanks for the link! Downton Abbey is fun in a soapy kind of way, though this season has gone the way of melodrama so often (an amnesia plotline? *seriously*?) that it's starting to get a bit obnoxious. But it's got Maggie Smith in it, always a good thing, and she gets all the best one-liners.

Professor Wend is outstanding, his classes are interactive, and interesting. I enjoyed his class, and would take another class that he was teaching. Thank you professor Wend, you are a great teacher, and a asset to the college.

Whenever I teach a topic I tell my students that I will try to stay objective and that anywhere my personal opinion comes into play I make it a point to spell it out as such. I find it useful to show them both sides of the topic and have them debate each side- not in any formal way, but in a way such that they see the idea as a continuum and not a series of talking points. Critical thinking is not easy to teach! Luckily, it is inherent in scientific disciplines.
